About

The real struggles, pains, and joys of looking good.

Beauty advice has a problem. Most of it is written to sell you something. The rest assumes you have endless time, money, and patience. Beauty Pains is for everyone else. People who want to look good, care enough to try, and would like all of it to take up less of their life.

So that's what we do here. We answer the actual question. We figure out what a product or technique really does, and separate that from what the marketing says it does. We tell you where the money matters and where it doesn't. Sometimes the expensive thing is worth it. Sometimes the drugstore version is the same formula in a plainer package. We'll tell you which, and why. Then the decision is yours. It always was.

What we believe

Beauty is personal. The right routine starts with what matters to you, not with what everyone else is buying this month. Effort counts for more than hype. A simple routine you actually do beats a fancy one you quit in March. And you can find good things almost anywhere, once you learn to separate the name from the look.

You will never be told here that you care too much about beauty, spend too much, know too little, or shop at the wrong store. You'll just get honest help seeing what's real, what's optional, and what's marketing.

The rule we won't break

The advice does not bend to fit the product. When the shop sells something, or a link earns us something, we'll say so plainly. And the advice stays exactly what it would have been anyway. The moment advice becomes a sales pitch, it stops being advice. That's the whole value of this site. So it's the one thing we protect above everything.

Start with Fix This if something's bothering you today, or the minimum viable beauty routine if you'd like the whole thing simplified.
